Strength comes in many shades and most of us associate it with darker colors, like black and blue. But how about throwing a bit of daring into the equation? Nothing says confidence like splashes of red whether it be shoes, handbags or lipstick. Niki Walker who owns and operates her own salon has set her mind to bringing daring but sophisticated back to New Orleans in the form of a fabulous new red lipstick that any woman can wear in order to push the confidence envelope just a bit or maybe even more. It’s just a matter of how far you’re willing to go.
What made you decide to produce cosmetics, specifically red lipstick? As you know I love fashion and beauty. I love hair and makeup. Niki Walker Red Lip color was created by necessity I guess, ha! I was constantly running out of red lipstick and always trying new colors. I wanted to create one that I loved. Not only loved the color but the texture and feel of it.
What's your inspiration? I wear black all day everyday. Nothing complements a black outfit like red shoes, red handbag and red lips.
How do you come up with the color? I wanted a red that wasn't to overpowering but still made a statement.
What is the manufacturing process? Magnolia Makeup manufactures the product. I chose to go with them because they are local, right around the corner from our salon. I have always loved their product.
I noticed you wear red lip color often. When did you start wearing red on your lips? I started wearing red lips the day after I watched the Devil Wears Prada. There was a time in the film that Anne Hathaway changed her attitude and became more confident. She rocked that red lip the rest of the movie.
What makes that color more attractive than others? It's a cool red, not costume at all. It's so rich!
Can all women wear red or is there a certain skin tone/hair color that complements it? Yes! All women can wear red. It's all about the attitude and confident women.
You say that all women should wear red lipstick at some point. Why? Being in this industry, I have worked on women all different walks of life. I see some guest every four weeks and some once a year. There are women that are high maintenance and won't leave the house without makeup and others that are more natural and simple. No matter what type of women they are, there is always that "wild" and confident part of them that will come out when they paint their lips a shade of red.
What is your price point and where will you distribute? $15 and it will be sold at Niki Walker Salon and our website to start.
Is it your goal to have a complete line of make-up? I do plan on creating more. I want to create a collection. That will hopefully be next.
