I was born in Astoria, New York, raised by both parents up until the death of my mother when I was 14. My older brother Gary was my mentor and I followed in the same career in accounting as him through his encouragement. I wanted to be a fashion designer but he said I wasn’t talented enough and punk was not a style but a phase. After he died n 1997, things just changed and I lost interest in life in general, but in 2002, I met the man of my dreams, Joseph Alessi, and felt alive again, living a wonderful, exciting life with him and our dog Bruno in New Jersey. Joe was the funniest, cutest and most loving man I ever met but, sadly, that came to a screeching halt when he was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer at the age of 48 and passed within 10 months -- my life was turned upside down and four months afterwards, I was laid off from my job. My only focus at the time was to get another position in corporate America, but I decided to volunteer at an animal rescue and it changed my life for the best. Those pets changed my life...I just wish my husband was here to share it with me.
